On the frigid ice planet of Hoth, the Rebel Alliance has set up a fresh headquarters; unfortunately, an Imperial probe droid uncovers their whereabouts. Before its destruction, it manages to relay the crucial data. Luke Skywalker suffers an assault from a Wampa and finds himself dragged to the creature's lair. However, Luke manages to break free and, aided by Han Solo, makes his way back to Echo Base. The signal from the probe droid reaches Captain Piett, who promptly informs Darth Vader of the discovery, leading to the immediate order for the fleet to head to the Hoth system.
