Starks served the Empire as a pilot, belonging to Sword Squadron of the 77th Air Wing. He participated in the Battle of Kelrodo-Ai, a part of the Western Reaches Operation during the Reconquest of the Rim, flying as Dagger Leader within Dagger Flight. Starks, along with Amp and Captain Shea Hublin, played a key role in taking out the hypermatter annihilator that powered the shield generator for the Citadel of Axes. Furthermore, he was among the few pilots who lived through the battle, a group which included the previously mentioned pilots, as well as Dibs, and Rocket.
