The Starlight Intruder, a sizable vessel, was the creation of Salla Zend and Shug Ninx, a pair of smugglers operating out of Ninx's Spacebarn located on Nar Shaddaa. Its construction commenced in 4 ABY.
This ship, which was based upon the MB-C1 medium transport design, was assembled using recovered components from various spacecraft and included the following enhancements:
- Under-hull jets for enhanced maneuverability.
- Four military-grade ion propulsion systems.
- A salvaged Hutt hyperdrive.
- A quartet of shield projection units.
- Retractable turbolaser batteries.
- A cargo hold with seven times the capacity of standard light freighters.
- Twenty differential maneuvering thrusters.
When Han Solo re-entered the lives of Salla and Shug, seeking a ship cleared for a Deep Core journey to Byss in 10 ABY, the veteran smuggler duo consented and transported Han, Leia, Chewbacca, and the Millennium Falcon to Byss. However, following a short encounter with Imperial security forces, the Intruder was confiscated by Byss authorities and impounded. Salla and Shug successfully rescued the Falcon; subsequently, they commandeered a Hunter-Killer probot after Han and his companions were captured and imprisoned within the Emperor's Citadel, enabling them to liberate their friends. They departed Byss, effectively abandoning the Starlight Intruder to Imperial custody in the process.
Several weeks afterward, Salla and Shug boarded a freighter returning to Byss. Upon their arrival, they discovered that the Starlight Intruder had been deliberately destroyed and melted down by technicians. Any salvageable parts were sold to scavengers aiming to construct or improve their own ships, mirroring Salla and Shug's original efforts in building the Intruder. The remaining fragments of the ship were being utilized as furnace fuel.
