Sticky mines represented a category of explosive weapon. During her mission to Hoth to scout a potential site for the Alliance to Restore the Republic's base, Corporal Purpruff of the Special Forces carried a sticky mine. She discovered vast underground caves and, to assess their structural integrity, attached a sticky mine to a stalactite and set it off. The stalactite, however, remained completely unmoved by the blast. Purpruff subsequently incorporated the outcome of this experiment into a report on Hoth, which was eventually included in The Rebel Files, a compilation of tangible records detailing the Alliance's history.
The reference book Star Wars: The Rebel Files, authored by Daniel Wallace and released in 2017, marked the initial appearance of sticky mines.
