Storm (Miy'til starfighter)

The Storm represented a uniquely altered Miy'til starfighter originating from Hapan designs, famously piloted by Prince Isolder.

Description

Utilizing the original Miy'til fighter frame, Isolder himself masterminded the Storm's design. The transformation involved over 500,000 credits worth of enhancements, effectively turning the fighter into a formidable warship.

Its length measured just over seven meters, making it even more compact than the New Republic's RZ-1 A-wing interceptor. Consequently, Hapan engineers had to shrink down numerous components to properly fit within the vessel's limited space. Isolder often had a prototype R2-Series5 astromech droid on board, gifted to him by Princess Leia Organa during initial negotiations between the Hapes Consortium and the New Republic.

For defense, the Storm featured three Taibolt 12 anticoncussion-field generators, while its offensive capabilities included a triple-linked laser cannons cluster and a miniconcussion-missile launcher loaded with 10 custom-designed missiles. Each wing also mounted an ion cannon, in addition to twin thermal-detonator bombing tubes carrying a total of 16 thermal detonators.

A communication and sensor jammer, strikingly similar to that found on the A-wing, was positioned directly ahead of the transparisteel canopy. This allowed Isolder to disrupt enemy target locks and communications. Storm's concussion missile system boasted a highly advanced targeting system, enabling it to bypass jamming attempts.

The starfighter's four Incom 6X4 fusial thrust engines were upgraded with Tykannin Class-4 power converters. Each engine also incorporated an enlarged Cygnus turbo generator, providing short bursts of speed that allowed the ship to travel approximately one-third faster than the A-wing.

History

The Storm became a frequent presence in battles within the Hapes Cluster, as Isolder often personally led his fighter squadrons into combat. During a rescue mission involving Princess Leia Organa, the ship suffered a crash landing on Dathomir. Following the battle, the Storm was successfully salvaged and reconstructed.
