LV8-series guard droid

The LV8-series guard droid represents a cost-effective security solution. It was produced by Baktoid Industrial Systems in the era following the establishment of the Galactic Alliance.

Characteristics

These LV8-series units were economical yet robust security droids known for their notable defensive abilities. Their primary function was to safeguard both the owner and their possessions. They featured quadanium armor plating, integrated blaster rifles in each arm, and included two tool attachment points. A vocabulator was standard, enabling them to communicate in both Basic and binary.

History

A pair of LV8-series guard droids in the sublevels of Coruscant.

Following the Galactic Empire's acquisition of Baktoid Combat Automata's assets, a significant number of Baktoid engineers, along with their research, escaped the Empire's control. After the Empire's collapse and the creation of the Galactic Alliance, these engineers united to form a new company, Baktoid Industrial Systems. Shifting their focus away from combat droids, they dedicated their efforts to designing advanced droids for industrial purposes. This expertise allowed Baktoid to regain its position as a prominent leader in droid engineering.

These droids saw use after the Alliance's downfall during the revived Galactic Empire's rule at the conclusion of the Sith–Imperial War. Specifically, LV8-series guard droids were stationed in maintenance tunnels within Sublevel 12 of Coruscant, near Roan Fel's private quarters, guarding a starship. Emperor Roan Fel and his accompanying security forces ultimately defeated these droids while Darth Krayt and his Sith minions were in pursuit of Fel's decoy.
