Suunfuus

Suunfuus, also formally addressed as Brother Suunfuus, was a male scientist of the Ithorian species. He found himself trapped on the Gorgorror, a biotechnological ship that captured other ships to get the resources it needed to survive. Eventually, he allied with Yele l'Ecumeuse, Daymon Thorn, and Lyoon to try and escape the vessel. During their attempt to flee, Lyoon perished, and the remaining trio discovered large, blue crystals known as Korendums. After each taking a crystal, they escaped the Gorgorror and went their separate ways.

Suunfuus eventually made his home on the volcanic planet Brazadann, where he dedicated himself to improving the lives of its inhabitants. He offered a portion of his crystal to Oriadann, Brazadann's twin planet, for use as an energy source. Tragically, the crystal's power was mismanaged, resulting in a catastrophic release of energy that completely obliterated Oriadann. Overwhelmed by remorse, Suunfuus secured the remaining part of the crystal in a crypt and sought atonement at the sacred Great Worms Cemetery, a mystical location. There, he intended to enter the bowels of a deceased lava worm as a means of purification.

He stayed inside the worm until a group of Rebels located him. They informed him that Daymon Thorn sought his Korendum, intending to weaponize it. Eager to assist, they left the cemetery and were preparing to return to the City when they were ambushed by the Salamander Warriors, who challenged them to a competition called the Dance of the Worm. Following the Rebels' victory, the group returned to Brazadann City amidst an attack led by Daymon Thorn. The group made their way to the crypt where Suunfuus had locked the Korendum away. He opened it and placed an anti Korendum in contact with the crystal to dissipate its energy. The Rebels then proceeded to defend the crystal from Daymon Thorn and his forces while Suunfuus took cover. The Rebels managed to defeat Thorn and protect the crystal, allowing the dissipation process to complete.

Biography

The ghost ship

Brother Suunfuus, the Ithorian scientist, had his ship captured by the Gorgorror while traveling through space. The Gorgorror was an enormous, biotechnological ship that roamed the galaxy, seizing ships to gather necessary raw materials for its survival. Suunfuus was not the only one trapped within the ancient ship, and he lived among others who became known as the Mécateks. He eventually became acquainted with the adventurer Yele l'Ecumeuse, the Force disciple Daymon Thorn, and his Jedi Master Lyoon. The four joined forces to face the dangers of the ship and escape, but only Suunfuus, Yele, and Daymon succeeded. During their escape, they came across crystals called Korendums. They went to the core of the ship, where they found an entity that they convinced to build them a ship so they could escape. Each of them took a crystal before successfully escaping the Gorgorror. The three survivors then dispersed across the galaxy, with Suunfuus settling on the volcanic planet of Brazadann.

Rumors of the Gorgorror had spread throughout the galaxy by the time of the Galactic Civil War, sometime during or after 0 ABY. A group of Rebels, while on a mission to assist Yele l'Ecumeuse with an uprising on the planet Taypho, overheard a rumor from someone who claimed to have met an Ithorian who lived inside the legendary ghost ship.

Destruction of Oriadann

Suunfuus became a significant figure on the planet, residing in Brazadann City. He served as a scientific advisor, improved the smelters' production methods for high-quality metals, and pursued a religious path. Seeking to further enhance the lives of his fellow men, he offered a portion of his Korendum to Oriadann, Brazadann's twin planet. The crystal was intended to serve as an energy source for the planet, but the immense power of the artifact was poorly managed. All of its energy was released at once, resulting in the complete annihilation of the planet. Consumed by grief, Brother Suunfuus had the remainder of the crystal sealed in an underground crypt that only he could open, and then departed for the Great Worms Cemetery. The cemetery was one of the planet's most mystical locations, and it was there that he sought redemption. It was believed that an individual was purified by venturing into the bowels of a deceased lava worm. The worms had three segments: the entrance isthmus, the primary rings, and the secondary rings. While most were content with meditating in the isthmus, Brother Suunfuus hoped to reach the secondary rings. No one had seen him since.

News of Oriadann's destruction had spread across the galaxy, causing panic as everyone assumed it was the Galactic Empire's doing, just as they had done with Alderaan. The news reached Taypho, where Yele l'Ecumeuse and the Rebel group learned about the tragedy. Realizing this was the work of Brother Suunfuus, Yele revealed to the Rebels the origin of the Korendums and Brother Suunfuus' research on Brazadann and Oriadann. Having just had her crystal stolen by Daymon Thorn, now working for the Empire, Yele informs the Rebels that they must find the last Korendum befor he does. So the Rebels set a course for Brazadann to find Suunfuus and his Korendum.

Searching for Suunfuus

The Rebels encountered and were captured by the Gorgorror on their way to Brazadann. The group encounters the Mécateks aboard the ghost ship and is inducted into their society. When the Rebels inquired about what lay beyond the hull, they were informed that no one who enters ever returns, including four strangers who appeared confident. The group travels into the ship, where they eventually encounter the ghost of Lyoon, Daymon Thorn's master. The ghost informs the Rebels that Daymon fell to the dark side and killed him. He also speculated that Daymon, along with Suunfuus and Yele, traveled to the heart of the ship, where Lyoon sensed an all-powerful entity, and used his newly aquirred dark side powers to convince the entity to help them escape. Before leaving the ghost, the Jedi Master bestows upon them an anti Korendum which can dissipate a Korendum's energy. When the Rebels make it to the heart of the ship, they are attacked with disturbing visions of the three escapees. After overcoming the visions, the entity allowed the Rebels to leave after they promised to find and kill Daymon Thorn, the one who deceived it.

After their ordeal in the Gorgorror, the Rebels finally arrived on Brazadann. Daymon Thorn had already contacted the local Brazanites who remained loyal to Brother Suunfuus and refused to hand him over. The Rebels were welcomed upon their arrival at Brazadann City, and a guide took a group of them across the lava sea on a sled pulled by lava worms to the Great Worms Cemetery. They entered the carcass of the lava worm at the cemetery, where Suunfuus was last seen, and eventually found him, thin and pale, in the secondary rings. With his redemption complete, the group informed him of their situation as they helped him leave the worm. Learning about Daymon Thorn's plan to steal his Korendum for use as a weapon, Suunfuus was willing to do anything to help the Rebels. As they left the valley of the cemetery, members of the Salamander Warriors tribe ambushed the group and challenged them to compete in the Dance of the Worm. They boarded their worm-pulled sled and returned to Brazadann City after defeating the Salamander Warriors.

The Korendum

Suunfuus and the Rebels fled to the Great Forge, an underground magma lake and the location of the well leading to the crypt that housed Suunfuus' Korendum, as the city came under attack by Thorn's forces. Suunfuus opened the crypt and was given the anti Korendum that the Rebels received from the Jedi Master. He placed the anti Korendum in contact with the crystal, and it began to discharge. They had not yet won because the dissipation of all the Korendum's energy would take more than two hours. Suunfuus advised against moving the crystal because doing so risked it falling into the lava and causing a chain reaction. The Rebels set up a defense to protect the crystal as Thorn closed in on their location. Suunfuus took cover as the Rebels fought the Imperial forces when Thorn arrived. As geysers erupted on the battlefield, the Rebels defended the crystal from Thorn and managed to defeat him and his soldiers. They successfully dissipated all of the energy from Suunfuus' Korendum after the Imperials were gone.
