The Swiftsure was a member of the Inexpugnable-class tactical command ships, specifically one of the six that served the Galactic Republic during the period of the Mandalorian Wars.
Back in 3963 BBY, the vessel was getting ready to depart from its location within the shipyards of Corellia. At that time, there was speculation that Admiral Saul Karath would be assigned as its commander. Additionally, the ship underwent a modernization process while it was in the dockyards, receiving an enhanced sensor suite that could anticipate enemy movements and adjust the battle formation accordingly.
Karath was, in fact, given the position of commanding officer of the ship. Following this, he organized and carried out a trial run in orbit around Coruscant, the capital of the Galactic Republic. During this time, he made an arrangement with the Jedi Covenant, specifically through Lucien Draay, who had by then been appointed to the Jedi High Council, to take Jedi Master Xamar aboard. Their mission was to intercept the fugitive Padawan Zayne Carrick before he could land on the planet and, unbeknownst to Karath, to prevent him from revealing the truth concerning his masters and the Covenant. The ship established a defensive perimeter around the planet, accompanied by a squadron of Hammerhead-class cruisers, integrating their tactical and drive systems with its own.
