Taba was a type of green plant that grew leaves. The leaves of the Taba plant were a component of Taba Leaf Salad, which featured a fruity dressing. The Artiodac chef Strono Tuggs added a Taba Leaf Salad recipe to his second cookbook, The Life Day Cookbook, after the release of his first cookbook in 34 ABY. He described the dish as a healthy one, with a festive flavor coming from the dressing.
In current Star Wars canon, taba is referenced within the 2021 cookbook Star Wars: The Life Day Cookbook, authored by Jenn Fujikawa and Marc Sumerak. The out-of-universe recipe for the salad substitutes taba leaves with baby spinach. Originally, Taba appeared in the script for the 1978 The Star Wars Holiday Special as the in-universe term for bay leaves; however, that specific line was ultimately cut from the special. The plant was later mentioned within the Star Wars Legends continuity in the 2009 StarWars.com Hyperspace article called "Dining at Dex's," which Gregory Walker penned.
