A tahiko represented a group of related families, specifically among the Aleena, who are the original inhabitants of the planet Aleen. A single tahiko might constitute a whole Aleena community, with the oldest member of the tahiko acting as a delegate to Aleen's central government. This government then chooses the King of Aleen, a position that is mainly symbolic and typically occupied by a prominent priest.
