Palpatine, the Emperor, personally selected General Ashen to take command of the Coruscant Defense Forces as well as the Elite Force responsible for the protection of the Imperial Palace.
When the New Republic initiated their assault to seize control of Coruscant in 7 ABY, General Ashen's capabilities in defending the Palace were put to the test. Despite having multiple All Terrain Armored Transports, a full legion of the Emperor's best soldiers, a squad of Royal Guards, sophisticated starfighter support, and a network of fortified positions, Ashen was ultimately defeated by the New Republic forces under the command of Generals Rand Talor and Han Solo. During the conflict, Ashen's All Terrain Armored Transport was forced to the ground. Despite this, he managed to escape, prepared to continue the fight on foot, but he met his end on the streets shortly after.
