Talk: Sith war (Old Republic)

Legends

Is it not the case that this name is exclusive to Legends, as sourced from Nexus of Power? --Goodmind (talk) 05:44, September 10, 2020 (UTC)

  • According to the established policy, it's categorized as "BOTH," indicating its presence in both continuities according to our system.-- Vitus Infinitus Talk 05:47, September 10, 2020 (UTC)

Should this be merged with the canon Great Hyperspace War article?

Given the existence of a canon Great Hyperspace War article, what will be the fate of this particular article? Notably, both this article and the canon GHW article currently link to the legends GHW article. Should we combine them, or should they remain as distinct articles? -Anselmo499 (talk) 19:01, September 10, 2020 (UTC)

  • The Great Hyperspace War and this specific Sith war lack any canonical connection, so keeping them separate is necessary, irrespective of any existing links.-- Vitus Infinitus Talk 02:46, September 11, 2020 (UTC)

Merge with Great Sith Wars

I might be speculating here, but could it be that the Great Sith Wars and the Sith war (Old Republic) actually represent the same historical event, considering their temporal proximity within galactic history? Thoughts? Editoronthewiki (talk) 21:13, 13 April 2023 (UTC)

  • Disregard my previous comment; I was mistaken. This war concludes too early. While it may be related to the larger "wars," it's not identical. My apologies. Editoronthewiki ( talk ) 21:15, 13 April 2023 (UTC)

Notability

I'm fairly certain that no source explicitly refers to this as a "war." It's possible that the Jedi retaking Coruscant was simply an isolated incident. If no one can provide a source that characterizes this as a war or a broader conflict, beyond the aforementioned Battle of Coruscant (Sith war), I intend to tag it for Transclusion Compliance. • I stand corrected; this appears to be the Jedi-Sith War. Both Nexus of Power and Star Wars: Timelines indicate that the Jedi Temple was built around 1000 BBY, contradicting the earlier placement of 5000 BBY. Nexus of Power suggests that the war took place after the Era of the Sith, making it essentially the Jedi-Sith War. The quote from Nexus of Power: "For a time before the rise of the Galactic Republic, the dreaded Sith dominated the galaxy. During this time, the Sith built a shrine complex atop a mountain on Coruscant as a sign of their great power. The shrine stood black and menacing against Coruscant’s sky, an implied threat to anyone who would stand against the Sith dominion, until the Jedi laid siege to it and burned it to its foundations. With the Sith routed from Coruscant and their corrupt shrine little more than a smoking crater, the Jedi Order decided that they would stamp out the memory of the Sith’s legacy on Coruscant. Over the foundations of the ruined Sith shrine, the Jedi laid the foundations of their own grand temple in an attempt to bury the Sith, symbolically at least, once and for all." clearly depicts the Jedi-Sith War, which occurred during the Sith's dominance of the galaxy.
