The talking bomb This explosive contraption, known as the talking bomb, and sometimes called "something elses", was a creation of the Ugnaughts. Its defining characteristic, as the name suggests, was a compact turntable mechanism. This device, fashioned from salvaged audio components recovered from the disposal area on Cloud City, provided the "voice." The actual explosive device was quite large, approximating the dimensions of a small chamber.
Despite its diminutive audio component, the talking bomb possessed considerable intelligence, exhibiting a sarcastic wit and a somewhat defiant personality.
Following the Galactic Empire's seizure of Cloud City soon after the Battle of Hoth, a talking bomb was strategically placed by rebellious Ugnaughts with the intention of eliminating Imperial personnel.
Sergeant [Vollot]'s unit of bombtroopers were deceived by the talking bomb, leading them to trigger its detonation. This resulted in their own deaths, and the magnitude of the explosion briefly jeopardized the stability of the airborne metropolis.
A minimum of a dozen of these devices were concealed throughout Cloud City, including the aforementioned one.
The talking bomb's conceptualization is credited to David Michelinie, Walter Simonson, and Tom Palmer.
