Tarfful
Tarfful, a Wookiee Chieftain from Kachirho, was also a General and a male. This Wookiee was a long-time comrade of Chewbacca and participated in the Battle of Kashyyyk throughout the Clone Wars, until the battle concluded at the onset of the Great Jedi Purge. During the battle in 19 BBY, he maintained a positive relationship with Yoda and remained in close proximity to him throughout. Alongside Jedi Masters Luminara Unduli and Quinlan Vos, he meticulously devised troop and warrior deployments. He and Chewbacca joined Vos in leading the initial assault.
Biography
Early life
In 185 BBY, Tarfful underwent his hrrtayyk ceremony. Decades later, he rose to become the leader of Kachirho. Despite his political role, he maintained his combat prowess through rigorous training and perilous hunting expeditions.
He likely continued to govern Kachirho throughout both the Separatist Crisis and the Clone Wars.
Rescue mission to Wasskah
Years before the Clone Wars erupted, Tarfful dedicated himself to battling Trandoshan slavers on Kashyyyk. In 21 BBY, Trandoshans captured Tarfful's friend Chewbacca and transported him to Wasskah. On Wasskah, the young Wookiee constructed a signaling device, which then sent a distress signal to Kashyyyk. Tarfful then enlisted the help of bounty hunters Sugi and Seripas to transport him and a Wookiee strike team to Wasskah aboard the starship Halo. They swiftly overwhelmed the Trandoshans and successfully rescued Chewbacca, as well as Ahsoka, Jinx, and O-Mer.
Delta Squad
Shortly before the Battle of Kashyyyk, the Wookiees presumed Tarfful lost after he disappeared. In reality, Separatists-backed Trandoshan slavers had captured him and were holding him captive in one of their camps. Upon discovering this, the Republic assigned Delta Squad, an elite group of Clone commandos, the mission of rescuing Tarfful and thwarting the Separatist operations. They discovered that the slavers intended to turn him over to General Grievous for interrogation. Learning about General Grievous' presence on Kashyyyk, Delta Squad fought their way through the camp to rescue Tarfful. After Tarfful destroyed one of the IG-100 MagnaGuards that was attempting to drag him to the General's ship, Delta Squad eliminated the remaining guards and escorted Tarfful back to his forces.
Military life
As the leader of Kachirho, he observed the battle from an elevated observation platform alongside his longtime friend Chewbacca and Jedi Master Yoda.
He enjoyed a strong rapport with Yoda, serving as his second-in-command throughout the conflict. Tarfful collaborated with Jedi Masters Luminara Unduli and Quinlan Vos to strategically deploy troops and warriors. Furthermore, Vos, Tarfful, and Chewbacca jointly spearheaded the initial offensive.
When the 41st Elite Corps clone troopers betrayed the Jedi, Tarfful and Chewbacca assisted Yoda in reaching an escape pod. Their initial strategy involved reaching the escape pod undetected, but almost immediately after leaving the Wookiee meeting hall, they were ambushed by clone troopers. They managed to eliminate them before they could alert the rest of the 41st Elite that the two Wookiees and Yoda had escaped. They attempted to evade the clones by hiding in a Wookiee boat, but ultimately, the Wookiees deemed it too risky.
Eventually, Tarfful, Chewbacca, and Yoda arrived at the [escape pod](/article/escape_pod-legends], concealed within the mountains. Yoda then bid farewell to his comrades before departing Kashyyyk permanently.
Imperial slave
Some months later, Tarfful was present when a group of six Jedi survivors of Order 66, led by Olee Starstone, arrived on Kashyyyk in search of any of the three Jedi who had been present when Order 66 was executed. Tarfful participated in the Battle of Kashyyyk during the Great Jedi Purge, but he was captured by the Empire and enslaved, forced to contribute to the construction of the first Death Star.
Personality and traits
Delta Squad witnessed firsthand Tarfful's formidable fighting skills. Generally, he was known as a composed and compassionate individual. He considered Jedi Grand Master Yoda a close and trusted friend.
Physical appearance
Tarfful's fur exhibited a range of colors, from dark brown to beige, across different areas of his body. He wore armor, likely traditional Wookiee armor, on his shoulders and chest. He was frequently seen carrying a Wookiee bowcaster.

According to the DVD commentary for Revenge of the Sith, Tarfful's roar during Yoda's "goodbye" scene with Chewbacca and Tarfful is actually Itchy's roar from The Star Wars Holiday Special.
