41st Stormtrooper Legion

The 41st Elite Corps, which was later renamed the 41st Stormtrooper Legion, was a legion of highly skilled clones considered elite within the Grand Army of the Republic. This legion consisted of various types of troopers, such as AT-RT drivers, clone scout troopers, and BARC troopers. Their identifying color was either gray or green camouflage. Functioning as a division within the 9th Assault Corps, the 41st Elite was under the joint command of Jedi General Luminara Unduli and Clone Commander Gree.

History

The 41st was led by Clone Commander Gree.

Although officially known as the 41st Elite Corps, this fighting force, co-led by General Luminara Unduli and Clone Commander CC-1004, was a legion of elite clones originating from the 9th Assault Corps. The 41st Elite specialized in extended patrols across alien worlds, often operating in harsh and primitive environments while establishing alliances with native populations. Their extensive exposure to diverse alien species led CC-1004 to develop expertise in alien cultures and customs, adopting the name Gree to signify his knowledge of obscure galactic species.

The operational methods of the 41st Elite quickly established them as specialists in warfare within hostile terrains, as well as experts in alien recruitment and counter-insurgency tactics.

One year into the conflict, Gree and the 41st Elite participated in the Battle of Dinlo, where they found themselves besieged by a significant number of droid forces. Jedi General Tur-Mukan spearheaded a mission to extract the legion from Dinlo. Subsequently, the 41st Elite were granted leave on Coruscant, ostensibly as a morale boost, but also to provide cover for Kal Skirata's covert operations.

Members of Green Company defending the Tranquility

A particular unit within the 41st Elite, known as Green Company, engaged in combat aboard the Republic Cruiser Tranquility when it was attacked by Separatist forces under the command of Asajj Ventress. At that time, the Tranquility was transporting the Viceroy of the Trade Federation, Nute Gunray, as a prisoner. Ventress's mission was to either liberate or eliminate Gunray, and the resulting conflict led to the loss of eighteen members of Green Company while defending the cruiser.

Later, Green Company was involved in the fierce recapture of the planet Geonosis, following intelligence reports that Archduke Poggle the Lesser had constructed a new droid foundry there.

The 41st maintained an extensive armory stocked with gray-marked Phase II armor and camouflaged scout armor suitable for jungle warfare. Their ranks included AT-RT drivers, clone scout troopers, and BARC troopers.

In 19 BBY, the 41st Elite participated heavily in the battle of Kashyyyk against the droid invasion force deployed to conquer the planet. On Kashyyyk, the clone troopers of the 41st Elite fought alongside Wookiee warriors and a small group of Jedi, bringing the battle against the Confederacy to a near stalemate. While the majority of their forces were dispatched to Kashyyyk, a detachment from the 41st Elite was sent to provide assistance in the Battle of Utapau.

When Palpatine initiated Order 66, Commander Gree and his troops immediately turned against Yoda. However, Yoda sensed their betrayal and swiftly eliminated Gree and his fellow clone trooper, managing to escape with the help of Chewbacca and Tarfful.
