Around the year 85 BBY, Tavetti functioned as the senator responsible for the representation of his people's homeworld, Protobranch. When Sifo-Dyas, the Padawan of Jedi Master Lene Kostana, experienced a Force vision foretelling a devastating solar storm impacting Protobranch, she shared this information with Tavetti, acting against the wishes of the Jedi High Council. Tavetti took Sifo-Dyas' premonition seriously, especially given the description of the Tabor Plains within it, believing it could become reality. During their exchange, Dooku was somewhat disturbed by Tavetti's focus solely on the vast quantities of bacta produced by Protobranch, rather than the welfare of its inhabitants. Tavetti also requested Kostana to investigate the matter, but discreetly to prevent widespread panic.
Eventually, Sifo-Dyas' vision materialized; a catastrophic solar storm struck Protobranch, causing widespread destruction to both the planet's population and its resources. Tavetti dispatched aid immediately, but his instructions prioritized the search for and protection of any remaining bacta over the rescue of survivors.
Dooku's interactions with Protobranch and Tavetti contributed to his decision to ultimately leave the Jedi Order and sever ties with the Republic.
