Tehk'la blade

Tehk'la blades, which are also known as Tehk'lka blades, functioned as handheld close-combat weapons and saw widespread use within Nagai culture.

Description

A Nagai preparing to throw a tehk'la blade

The design of Tehk'la blades bore resemblance to vibrodaggers. They incorporated a serrated edge in conjunction with vibration generators, which served to intensify the damage caused when the blade was extracted from a wound. Furthermore, the blade possessed excellent balance, enabling ambidextrous use by individuals skilled in dual-wielding. This balance also rendered it effective as a throwing knife. These weapons were not just tools for combat; they were implements used to incapacitate defeated adversaries.

Tehk'la blades were custom-made for each individual owner, frequently crafted by the owner themselves. During the Mandalorian Wars era, it was common to construct them using cortosis weave, mirroring the vibroblades of the Old Republic. Certain Twi'lek assassins employed them as their weapons of choice.

History

The brothers Vor Essen and Kor Essen, both Nagai, possessed the knowledge required to craft Tehk'la blades. Around 20 BBY, when they were enslaved by the Chevin slaver Phylus Mon, they attempted to secure assistance for their escape by offering to create custom-made Tehk'la blades as bribes to potential rescuers.

Ozrei N'takkilomandrife, a Nagai military commander, demonstrated exceptional skill in wielding the Tehk'la blade. The Wookiees he befriended on Kashyyyk struggled with the pronunciation of his name, leading them to adopt the Shyriiwook term "Knife" as a reference to his proficiency with the Tehk'la blade.
