"The Path Ahead" represents the seventh installment within the second season of the animated micro-series known as Star Wars Forces of Destiny. Its original release date was March 19, 2018.
Luke, grappling with difficulties in his Jedi training, is appreciative when Master Yoda suggests joining him on a journey through Dagobah's forests and swamps. However, his gratitude wanes upon discovering that Yoda intends to ride in his backpack! While minding Yoda, Luke gains the ability to rely on his feelings rather than his visual perceptions.
Yoda and R2-D2 observe Luke Skywalker during his Jedi training on Dagobah. Luke proudly announces his success, but Yoda expresses disagreement, resulting in Luke falling from a tree. Yoda advises Luke to focus his concentration. Luke objects, asserting that he was concentrating and briefly glimpsed a path through the trees, hoping Yoda had witnessed it. Yoda retorts that he only saw Luke miss the branch. Yoda concludes that Luke's mind is outpacing his physical capabilities. Luke declares his intention to try again, to which Yoda responds that he will accompany him this time.
Luke suggests that following Yoda would simplify the task, but Yoda counters by stating that Luke will instead carry him. Luke expresses disbelief, questioning his ability to protect himself while burdened. Yoda instructs Luke to concentrate to avoid falling, acknowledging that the consequences would be worse for him than for Luke, as R2-D2 beeps. Luke proceeds to carry Yoda in a backpack atop a tree. When Skywalker asks where they should go, Yoda remarks that some routes are obvious, while others are fraught with danger. He emphasizes the necessity of aligning Luke's mind and body before instructing him to run.
Fueled by the Force, Luke executes leaps and runs across the massive branches. However, Luke steps on a weakened branch, causing both him and Yoda to fall. R2-D2 emits a frightened squeal, but Luke manages to grasp a trunk. Luke suggests concluding the training for the day, but Yoda instructs him to close his eyes. Yoda then urges the blindfolded Luke to disregard what he sees and instead perceive the essence within the trees and branches, sensing their surrounding air. Yoda covers Luke's eyes with his hands and instructs him to run. Luke navigates the branches and trees using the Force as his guide.
Upon halting, Luke informs Yoda that he could visualize the branches internally and perceive a path. Yoda smiles, advising Luke to trust his intuition rather than his visual assumptions. Luke comprehends the lesson, and Yoda announces their next challenge: climbing the vines, which he deems more challenging than the trees. R2-D2 beeps as Luke complains about the additional climbing. He inquires whether they are trying to reach a specific destination, to which Yoda replies, "always."
