The Quintarad, an unusual formation, existed as a star system situated in Wild Space. Specifically, it was located within the Void of Aogros, a starless expanse. This system was comprised of five stars that orbited one another, a configuration considered quite peculiar.
Many astrophysicists held the strong belief that the Quintarad was not a naturally occurring phenomenon. It was widely speculated to have been constructed by members of the sentient Celestial species, who vanished from the galaxy around 30,000 BBY. Numerous probes were dispatched to explore this quinary system, yet none managed to survive the voyage.
Originally, the Quintarad was intended to be included in the 2012 reference book The Essential Guide to Warfare, authored by Jason Fry and Paul R. Urquhart. However, the specific section that would have detailed the star system was removed prior to the book's publication.
Subsequently, in 2013, the details about the Quintarad were revealed as a component of Star Wars: The Essential Guide to Warfare Author's Cut. This was a collection of articles, featuring content cut from The Essential Guide to Warfare, published on the StarWars.com Blog by Fry and Erich Schoeneweiss. The Online Companion for the 2009 reference book The Essential Atlas indicated the Quintarad's location as grid square H-18.
