The Silence

The Silence, as defined by the Code of Ammuud, was a rule prohibiting members of the planet's seven clans from revealing crucial details about their clan's internal operations and interactions with external parties. This prohibition held even under the threat of death. A clan member was only permitted to violate the Silence if a party involved in their dealings breached their trust. Otherwise, violating the Silence was considered a breach of oath under the Code of Ammuud, resulting in the clan member's expulsion.

Due to the Silence, the Mor Ewwen Glayyd was initially unable to share information with Han Solo regarding his clan's interactions with the slaver Zlarb. Nevertheless, Solo disclosed Zlarb's identity as a Malkite Poisoner, and the Mor Glayyd later learned that Zlarb had been responsible for the poisoning of his father, the previous Mor. Consequently, the Mor Glayyd provided Solo with the requested information and guaranteed the smuggler that his clan would not report his activities on Ammuud to the Corporate Sector Authority's Security Police.
