The world of Thesme existed as an industrial planet within the Thesme system, situated in the Outer Rim Territories. It was a planet and served as the somewhat unimpressive sector capital for the Thesme sector, found along the Thesme Trace.
Silya Shessaun represented Thesme in the Galactic Senate. Before the outbreak of the Clone Wars, the Senator frequently had to go back to Thesme to help resolve conflicts over territory within the sector.
During the time of the Galactic Civil War, a reward was offered for the capture of Marko Tyne, a Zygerrian slaver, on Thesme. Not long after the Battle of Endor, Princess Leia Organa journeyed to Thesme to offer her condolences to Shessaun, the former Senator, who was near death.
