A specific type of chair, known as a thorn seat, was employed by the Yuuzhan Vong to cause pain. High-ranking Yuuzhan Vong officers were the only ones who used it, not as a form of torture, but to "embrace" pain. When a user sat on the chair, the thorns would pierce their back and buttocks, extracting blood. This blood extraction served as the chair's power source. Tsavong Lah possessed a thorn seat and presented it to Nom Anor as a present not long before the Battle of Coruscant.
