This individual, a Sun Guard only known as the Thug leader, served as a subordinate to Darth Sidious, who was the Dark Lord of the Sith. During the time of the Invasion of Naboo, he commanded a mercenary group in an attempt to kidnap Padmé Amidala. This scheme, however, was unsuccessful, leading to his demise at the hands of Captain Quarsh Panaka.
Back in 32 BBY, Captain Quarsh Panaka was trying to escort Padmé Amidala, the Queen of Naboo, to Naboo's Senator, Palpatine. During this time, the Thug leader and his accomplices kidnapped the Queen, taking her to the Restricted Area of Coruscant. In the city's depths, Panaka successfully rescued Amidala, and they commenced their journey towards the surface. In a dimly lit chamber just beneath Coruscant's surface, the Sun Guard ambushed Panaka and Amidala. Armed with a vibro-ax, he engaged Panaka in combat, but after a prolonged and intense battle, he was ultimately defeated and killed.
The Thug leader makes an appearance in the video game, Star Wars: Episode I The Phantom Menace video game. The mission in which this leader is featured presents a contradiction to the events of the film, Star Wars: Episode I The Phantom Menace; in the movie, Queen Amidala was never captured and proceeded directly to the Senate Building.
