Biography

Thuku

Thuku and Neesh both fought in the Rodian Clan Wars, which were instigated by the notorious warlord Navik the Red. Because of this, they constantly sought opportunities to eliminate members of the rival Tetsu Clan. To that end, Neesh and Thuku employed Spurch "Warhog" Goa, an assassin, to eliminate Greedo, a young Tetsu mercenary. Spurch had formed a bond with Greedo and aided the young Rodian in honing his skills as a potential bounty hunter. Spurch, secretly harboring a deep disdain for Rodians, derived pleasure from manipulating Greedo into pursuing Han Solo, the Corellian smuggler. Knowing that Solo would inevitably kill Greedo, Spurch successfully fulfilled his obligation to Thuku without personally firing a single shot. Thuku and Neesh compensated Spurch with a chest filled with Rodian currency, stating that while they could have eliminated Greedo themselves, they wished to avoid public knowledge of their targeting of their own species.

After the [battle of Talus](/article/battle_of_talus], Thuku was approached in Chalmun's Spaceport Cantina by an agent of the Rebel Alliance. The agent was searching for details regarding captured individuals from the Emperor's Most Wanted list, which contained high-value Alliance members with substantial bounties. After consuming several drinks, Thuku signaled his thugs and others in the cantina to subdue the Rebel. Despite Wuher's objections, the thugs armed themselves, and the cantina quickly descended into chaos. As the gunfight unfolded, the Rebel systematically eliminated Thuku's associates, compelling the survivors to flee, leaving Thuku with no option but to surrender. Despite claiming to lack information on the captured Rebels' whereabouts, he revealed that Dengar had claimed a bounty in Mos Eisley and transported it to Naboo, thus providing the Rebel operative with a valuable lead.

Behind the scenes

Thuku was originally conceived for the short story titled A Hunter's Fate: Greedo's Tale. He was later identified as the Rodian observed walking outside of Chalmun's Spaceport Cantina shortly after Greedo's demise in A New Hope.

In the Rodian language, Thuku's name translates to stoic. The name is a common one, and alludes to a long history of the Chattza people.

Despite being portrayed as a male character, Thuku was played by Diana Sadley Way, a female extra, in A New Hope.
