The Tigon mining colony represented a mining outpost situated on Makeb, a planet located in the Mid Rim. In 3638 BBY, the Hutt Cartel launched an invasion of Makeb, commencing extensive mining activities that resulted in devastating groundquakes. The fourth groundquake caused the complete destruction of the Tigon mining colony; even by the time of the fifth groundquake, recovery teams were still extracting corpses from the ruins. It was during this fifth groundquake that Shalim Avesta, a politician, engaged in conversation with a representative of the Galactic Republic regarding the Hutt Cartel's takeover. Following the seismic event, he informed the Republic contact about the obliteration of the Tigon mining colony and the ongoing attempts to rescue survivors.
The Tigon mining colony received a mention in Star Wars: The Old Republic: Rise of the Hutt Cartel. This video game expansion was released in 2013 for Star Wars: The Old Republic, a 2011 game developed by BioWare.
