Tin was a metallic element utilized as a coating for other materials. Ahsoka Tano, a Padawan, likened the protective layer of 4-A7, a spy droid, to tin. During the Clone Wars, Tano also used the term "tinnies" to describe battle droids. Toro Calican, a bounty hunter, directed an insult at EV-9D9, referring to her as a "tin can."
