Tiss'sharl

Tiss'sharl, a planetary body found within the Xappyh sector, existed in the Outer Rim Territories. This planet was the homeworld of the Tiss'shar, an intelligent species characterized as therapods.

Historical Context

Back in 3704 BBY, Freia Kallea, a pioneer in hyperspace exploration, forged a connection between the nearby Morellian Trail and the Spurs of Celanon. This connection formed a segment of a massive hyperlane that became widely recognized as the Hydian Way. As a result, this area became accessible to the broader galaxy, leading to the exploration of regions including Tiss'sharl between 3000 and 1000 BBY.

While a significant portion of the planet experienced temperate conditions, the Tiss'shar originated from the humid and perilous jungle continents of Tiss'sharl. Governance of the planet rested with the Tiss'sharl League, a group comprised of the leaders from the most profitable businesses over the preceding five local years; both residents and non-residents were eligible. The League's leader held the title of President. The corporations that employed the native population ensured their basic needs were met. Around 1,000 BBY, the Tiss'sharl League gained complete authority over Tiss'sharl. Although the League's rule brought stability and prosperity to the Tiss'shar, it also cultivated a culture of ruthless politics, a defining trait during the Imperial era.

Due to its strong commercial orientation, Tiss'sharl was deeply enmeshed within the Galactic economy, boasting extensive import and export activities. The planet generally maintained a trade surplus, largely attributed to the superior quality of its technological products. Tiss'sharl supplied diatium power cells to the Jedi Council and later Tagge Company blaster cartridges to the Galactic Empire.

The Tiss'sharl government was notorious for its brutality and treachery, with deceit and political assassinations being commonplace. Under the New Order, the planet demonstrated a level of loyalty to the Empire that was as high as could be expected, considering the inherent political customs of the natives. Its strategic importance was such that the Imperial representative functioned more as a liaison than a governor, a situation also observed in regions such as the Tapani sector. It appears that the liaison was commonly a Moff, possibly granting Tiss'sharl the status of a sector capital. However, it seems that at least some individuals holding this liaison position also had other responsibilities in the surrounding spatial area.

Following the demise of Moff Giiedt, approximately eight months after the Battle of Yavin, he was succeeded as liaison by a military figure, Commander Demmings. Demmings also held the rank of captain aboard the Star Destroyer Reprisal, which at the time served as the command ship of Lord Darth Vader.
