TL-1800 transport

The TL-1800 transport, alternatively referred to as the TL-1800 freighter or TL-1800 light freighter, was a light freighter that Suwantek Systems produced as a member of their TL-series family of vehicles.

Characteristics

This broad, 30-meter-long vessel had the capability to transport 110 tons of cargo within its internal cargo bay. Furthermore, it could accommodate up to four external cargo pods attached to its exterior. This design afforded the TL-1800 a remarkable cargo capacity relative to its dimensions, exceeding that of significantly larger vessels like the Etti Lighter and the YZ-775 medium transport. However, the addition of these pods negatively impacted the already limited speed and maneuverability of the freighter, and only a single pod was permissible during flight within an atmosphere.

The TL-1800 also stood out due to its highly efficient Y-v-6 model sublight engines and StarBurn 4 hyperdrive, capable of operating for a year or more before requiring significant maintenance.

Suwantek Systems typically outsourced the creation of systems like the nav computer to Fabritech or Industrial Automaton. However, with the TL-1800 Transport, Suwantek Systems opted to develop their own nav computer system, known as the Portal Delta, in an effort to reduce production expenses. The Portal Delta was highly susceptible to malfunctions and demanded continuous upkeep. Later iterations of this vessel incorporated the more dependable Fabritech units, although earlier models could still be found equipped with the problematic Portal Delta nav computer system.

History

The Imperial Security Bureau occasionally utilized TL-1800 freighters. One such freighter, the Melnor Spear, was employed by Daric LaRone during his escape from the Imperial Star Destroyer called Reprisal.
