Trade Federation fleet

History

This defense fleet was composed of capital ships, for example heavy munition cruisers along with missile frigates. The fleet utilized droid crews extensively, featuring OOM pilot battle droids, numerous types of infantry battle droids, and droid starfighters. However, the fleet also included cadres of sentient individuals, frequently humans, encompassing their commanders, TDF officers, and additional personnel like scout pilots and troop contingents.

Following the Invasion of Naboo, the Trade Federation was compelled to cede warships to the Galactic Republic's Judicial Forces. This resulted in Federation vessels and crews participating in the Republic-led Second Battle of Zonama Sekot.

In the years leading up to the Clone Wars, the Trade Federation subsequently re-established a military force. This included missile frigates of a design predating Naboo, which served in a picket role during the First Battle of Geonosis, as well as sizable new cruiser and destroyer designs that incorporated Lucrehulk-class core ships to serve as command modules.

Behind the scenes

The Trade Federation Defense Fleet has a significant part in Rogue Planet, where it is suggested to have historically been the provider of military protection for Trade Federation cargo transports. Nevertheless, Cloak of Deception makes no mention of a separate defense fleet. Instead, the LH-3210 freighters Revenue and Acquisitor are represented as being armed, shielded, and defended by their own battle droids and starfighters during the time before the invasion of Naboo. Daultay Dofine, captain of one of these armed freighters, later took command of the invasion fleet at Naboo.
