The Second Battle of Zonama Sekot unfolded in 29 BBY at the location of Zonama Sekot. This "living planet" was situated within the Gardaji Rift, found in the Outer Rim Territories.
Before the conflict, Zonama Sekot had been creating peculiar organic ships capable of surpassing the speed of most galactic starships. The Jedi Order felt compelled to investigate the genesis of these unique vessels, while simultaneously searching for Jedi Knight Vergere, who had disappeared during a mission to the planet a year prior. Jedi Knight Obi-Wan Kenobi and his Padawan Anakin Skywalker were assigned to carry out this investigation.
Concurrently, a task force under the command of Raith Sienar and Blood Carver Ke Daiv was also sent to the planet, acting under the enforced orders of Wilhuff Tarkin. At the time, Tarkin was a political figure from Eriadu and the commander of the Republic Outland Regions Security Force. Tarkin's goal in seizing the world that produced the mysterious "living starships" was to gain political and economic advantages through recognition by the galaxy's rising powers.
Upon arriving at the planet, Obi-Wan Kenobi and his Padawan successfully acquired an organic starship, which they named Jabitha. They also discovered that Vergere had been abducted by a mysterious alien race from the Unknown Regions, who were in actuality the extragalactic Yuuzhan Vong.
At the same time, Raith Sienar's squadron made its arrival and dispatched Ke Daiv to secure a highly sought-after Sekotan starship. Regrettably, Daiv was rejected by the seed-partners, which are the essential sentient beings required for the starship's construction. Shortly after receiving news of this rejection, Tarkin's forces converged on Sienar's. Both the Security Force commander and the renowned ship designer, each distrusting the other's intentions, had betrayed one another, ultimately leading to Sekot detecting their presence. Consequently, they both felt compelled to unleash their forces upon the living world.
Tarkin's fleet was composed of two Trade Federation cargo haulers and ten light cruisers acting as escorts for the Galactic Republic's Dreadnaught-class heavy cruisers. Swarms of Vulture droids and sky-mines were unleashed on the peaceful planet and its inhabitants. In response, the living planet deployed Zonama Sekotan fighters, although they were fewer in number. During the conflict, Anakin and Jabitha Hal, the daughter of the Sekotan Magister, were captured by Tarkin's forces after they intercepted the Jabitha.
However, Obi-Wan and Anakin were able to escape in their seedship, despite it being damaged by enemy fire. Eventually, Zonama Sekot departed the sector where the battle took place and, utilizing its immense hyperdrive system, fled into the Unknown Regions. The attacking forces were left in a significantly weakened state.
Obi-Wan and Anakin piloted the Jabitha to the planet Seline, where the living ship succumbed to its injuries and died. In fact, all Sekotan ships throughout the galaxy also perished as a consequence of losing contact with Zonama Sekot.
Kenobi and Skywalker's subsequent mission took them to the planet Kodai, where they aimed to retrieve the ancient Sith holocron belonging to King Adas.
