The Trayus Core represented the most deeply situated chamber within the Trayus Academy, a Sith structure located on the planet Malachor V.
The core, found at the heart of the Trayus Academy on Malachor V, took the form of an altar resembling a claw. This altar was suspended above a powerful upwelling of dark side energy. To provide stability, three bridges connected it to the rest of the Trayus Academy complex.
The Battle of Malachor V saw the survival of the Trayus Core, along with the rest of the Trayus Academy. During the Sith Civil War, Darth Nihilus and Darth Sion, both Sith Lords, utilized the Trayus Core as the location to overcome and banish Darth Traya, their master. Their motivation was to seize her power and jointly govern the Sith Triumvirate. Following the deaths of Nihilus and Sion, the Jedi Exile Meetra Surik encountered Traya meditating within the Trayus Core, and subsequently killed her.
The Trayus Core's intense emanation of Force energy allowed Traya to effectively center herself. This centering granted her the ability to foresee the destinies of Surik's companions, with the exceptions of Bao-Dur, HK-47 and T3-M4. She even revealed the future of the Republic itself. Upon the reactivation of the Mass Shadow Generator, the Trayus Core imploded. This implosion occurred as Malachor V and the rest of the Academy were obliterated, releasing the dark side energies that had been contained within.
