A soldier of Human female descent resided on the planet Bellassa. This soldier, who had two children, namely Trever and Tike Flume, fathered by a doctor, participated in the Galactic Republic's armed forces during the initial stages of the Clone Wars, which commenced in 22 BBY. She fought against the Confederacy of Independent Systems, a group of secessionists. Holding the rank of captain, her life ended in combat during the Battle of T'olan early in the war.
A Human female was born on the Core World of Bellassa during the declining decades of the Galactic Republic. With a doctor, she eventually became the mother of two sons, Tike and Trever Flume. Trever, the younger of the two, came into the world around 31 BBY. During Trever's childhood, the family shared a close bond and enjoyed a happy life together. They attended concerts and played laserball in their home city, Ussa. On weekends, they were regulars at a certain café.
Nine years approximately following Trever's birth, the Confederacy of Independent Systems's act of seceding from the Galactic Republic triggered the Clone Wars, throwing the galaxy into turmoil. The woman decided to join the Republic Military to oppose the Confederacy. Before her departure, she reassured Trever that she would return unharmed and that it was too dangerous for him to accompany her. She died in the early stages of the war while serving as a captain in the Battle of T'olan, which took place on T'olan within the Wuun system.
Following his mother's passing, Flume seldom spoke of her. After his father and brother met their end in a bombing that occurred after the war's conclusion, he was left an orphan. He devoted months to trying to bury the memories of these deaths, overwhelmed by his anger and pain. He abandoned his education to live on the streets and aligned himself with the Bellassan black market for survival. In exchange for sustenance and shelter, he carried out various tasks for them. This also conveniently kept him away from his family's stomping grounds in the upscale parts of Ussa. He preferred not to be reminded of any of them. Even so, he did think of them fondly and their deaths lingered in his mind. Remembering what his mother had said to him before leaving, and his father and brother saying similar things before their own deaths, he became deeply averse to people he cared about saying "I'll be back" before doing dangerous things.
In 2005, Jude Watson's young reader novel The Last of the Jedi: The Desperate Mission featured the first mention of Trever Flume's mother, although she was not named.
Trever Flume mentioned in The Desperate Mission that his mother fought in the Grand Army of the Republic, but he was likely mistaken. According to The Essential Guide to Warfare (2012), the Grand Army's infantry consisted solely of clone troopers, all of whom were male and almost exclusively sourced from the bounty hunter Jango Fett. While Jedi Generals were considered part of the Grand Army and were not clones, they held a significantly higher rank than the captains, who were clones. Nevertheless, the Republic had non-clone military branches, such as the Planetary Security Forces or the Judicials.
A later book in the series, The Last of the Jedi: Death on Naboo (2006), erroneously stated that she perished fighting the Galactic Empire, which did not exist at the time of her death. Subsequently, in The Last of the Jedi: A Tangled Web (2006), Trever Flume recalled his mother dying on Bellassa instead of at T'olan. These incorrect references to her death grouped her together with her partner and other son, whom Imperials did kill on Bellassa according to The Desperate Mission, but A Tangled Web also explicitly mentioned those two dying together independently from her.
