Trid spaceport

The Trid spaceport, acting as the planetary gateway, was a spaceport situated at the eastern edge of Trid, which served as the capital city of Danuta.

Description

This spaceport featured a modest, single-story terminal building, resembling a typical warehouse. A battery equipped with surface-to-air missiles was positioned at its western end, along with an array of antennae. Conversely, the opposite end housed a restricted area containing six TIE/LN starfighters, secured by a squad of stormtroopers and numerous warning signs. Neighboring the terminal, one could find cantinas, clubs, strip joints, and inexpensive eateries, a common sight in many towns across the galaxy. Further up the street were establishments catering to outfitters, suppliers, and parts vendors.

A short landing strip was available for use by starships. An automated guidance system, its orange paint faded with wear, directed arriving vessels to their designated parking space.

A lodging establishment stood just twenty meters outside the security perimeter, negatively impacted by the noise, vibrations, and odors emanating from the spaceport; however, its Kubazian landlord asserted that it offered an excellent view.

History

Serving Trid, the capital of Danuta, the spaceport saw frequent traffic from employees of the Brodsport Mining Corporation, smugglers, spacers, and Imperial personnel. Despite not being as bustling as spaceports in larger cities on more significant planets, the strip could accommodate around sixty ship arrivals and departures daily.

During his Mission to Danuta, Kyle Katarn arrived aboard the Moldy Crow, landing in slot twenty-three under the assumed identity of "Dan Drexel." The local customs agent recognized him from a briefing (Katarn was a wanted man by the Empire after defecting to the Rebel Alliance), and was about to perform a check; "Drexel" claimed he was ahead of schedule and offered a bribe to expedite his passage. The Crow remained there for several days, serving as Katarn's base while he prepared to infiltrate the Danuta research facility.

Later, Katarn met up with fellow Rebel agent Jan Ors, tasking her with piloting the Crow for his extraction. As the customs agent, now suspicious of "Drexel," conferred with Stormtroopers holding a document (likely a wanted poster for Katarn), they noticed Ors boarding the Crow. She managed to retract the ramp and initiate the system just as the soldiers futilely attempted to damage the ship with small arms fire, only to be targeted by the ship's lasers. Meanwhile, TIE pilots rushed to their TIE fighters, which became easy targets for Ors. One TIE managed to take off and attempted to fire on the Crow, but Jan detonated a fuel cache, destroying the vessels. The resulting explosion of shrapnel, fuel, and cannon fire devastated the remaining pursuing ships. Following the chaos, the Crow flew westward to rendezvous with Katarn.
