"Galaxy Ways: A Problem" constitutes an adventure concept for Star Wars: The Roleplaying Game, 2nd ed.. This scenario was penned by Bill Olmesdahl and made available within the pages of the Star Wars Gamemaster Screen book in the year 1992. "Galaxy Ways: A Problem" serves as an illustration of an adventure centered around a specific extraterrestrial species, specifically the Ranats.
The characters controlled by players journey to the planet called Aralia, possessing complimentary passes to the Galaxy Ways amusement park during a period when it's not typically busy. Before much time passes, the park's electrical supply fails, and external communication is blocked. Concurrently, nearby spacecraft are inexplicably rendered inoperable. Following this, park attendees start vanishing, leaving behind only tattered, bloodied fabric, scratch marks from claws, and terrified vocalizations as evidence. The cause is ultimately revealed: multiple groups of ravenous, rodent-resembling Ranats. The player characters, having surrendered their weapons upon entering the park, are forced to battle their way to escape the park and depart Aralia.
Olmesdahl advises that the adventure should evoke the atmosphere of a zombie movie, where the characters constantly fear being consumed by the gruesome Ranats. However, he acknowledges that such a situation might be excessively grim for certain player groups, providing alternative options accordingly. As an example, he proposes that the Ranats could be motivated by something other than hunger, perhaps having embraced Ronnie the Rocketpack Rodent as their new deity. Consequently, they would be pilfering Ronnie-themed items, including any unfortunate characters who might be dressed in a complete Rocketpack Rodent outfit.
