Tzarina
The Tzarina served as a passenger transport starship. It was utilized by Star Tours, a space travel agency, during the early years of the Galactic Civil War.
Description
The Tzarina represented a Star Tours luxury yacht and stood as the largest vessel within the Star Tours fleet when it was initially commissioned. This ship exhibited various similarities to the CR90 corvettes produced by the Corellian Engineering Corporation, notably its hammer-shaped cockpit design. Like many Star Tours vessels, it was flown by a pilot droid.
History
The Tzarina's introduction coincided with the Battle of Yavin. During its maiden voyage, a devastating incident occurred, resulting in the loss of life for the majority of its passengers. The ship's droid captain, for reasons that remain unclear, made the decision to alter course towards Yavin in order to present the passengers with "something neat". Upon arrival, the yacht collided with an out-of-control TIE Fighter variant that was spinning wildly through space. This collision triggered the Tzarina's hyperdrive, propelling the ship into hyperspace. After emerging from hyperspace a considerable distance away, it crash-landed in the Yumaou Risoath sector on the planet Dathomir, specifically within the Quelii sector.
The crash promptly drew the attention of local scavenger creatures seeking sustenance. Subsequently, a pack of ferocious purboles took up residence within the wreckage of the Tzarina. Only one passenger is known to have survived the crash, eventually making their way to the Dathomir Trade Outpost several months later. There, this commoner shared his account with others. In return for disseminating his story, the survivor offered to disclose the ship's location to spacers, hinting at the possibility of salvaging something from the wreckage.
The Galactic Empire later discovered that a Rebel spy had been aboard the liner at the time of the crash. In 1 ABY, Lieutenant Sabol dispatched an operative to search through the ship's wreckage for Rebel documents, specifically those containing information regarding the whereabouts of a high-ranking Rebel officer targeted for assassination by the Empire.
Around the same period, the smuggler Kirby was active in the vicinity of the crash site.
Behind the scenes
The remnants of the Tzarina appeared as a location in the 2003 video game Star Wars Galaxies, a massively multiplayer online roleplaying game that was developed by Sony Online Entertainment and then published by LucasArts, before it was shut down on December 15, 2011. A herald NPC that was added to the game in the "Publish 1" update, which was released on August 3, 2003, identified the crashed ship as the Star Tours luxury yacht Tzarina.
Historically, "Tzarina" (also written as "Tsarina" or "Czarina") served as a title held by the empresses of Russia before the year 1917.
