Following a New Republic triumph over Imperial forces in an 8 ABY battle at Kuat, a few Hours later, covert Imperial agents launched an attack against the shipyards belonging to Kuat Drive Yards. These agents detonated explosive devices, causing widespread damage to the docking areas, and they also engaged the hyperdrives of both the Aurora and the Stellar Halo, sending them hurtling into Kuat's sun. Furthermore, the agents kidnapped essential KDY engineers and escaped to the Deep Core on the partially constructed Eclipse. This all happened after the Imperial and New Republic conflict.
