Underwater Zeta Zero Nine base

This submerged installation functioned as an Imperial research complex on the world known as Zeta Zero Nine. This world was a frigid, desolate place, its surface blanketed by a thick sheet of ice. However, beneath this icy surface lay a vast aquatic realm, where the Empire constructed its underwater base. This strategic placement ensured the facility remained entirely hidden, shielded from unwanted observation. Furthermore, the planet's unusual orbital path generated electromagnetic disturbances that hampered communication and disrupted most equipment. The Imperials successfully navigated these challenges using a disrupter box, rendering intruders technologically impaired. Moff Jesco Comark held command of the base during the period of the Galactic Civil War.

The base played a crucial role in Operation Death-Hunter, specifically in the creation of the Death-Hunter Cyborg. Given the sensitive nature of this undertaking, security on the planet was exceptionally tight, with a substantial contingent of snowtroopers, seatroopers, and various underwater vehicles stationed at the facility. Their purpose was both to deter intruders and to manage the numerous captured Humans from the planet Bescane, who were destined to become cyborgs. The underwater vehicles patrolling the base's exterior included Aquatic Terrain Armored Transports, subtugs, TIE Subfighters, and Torpedo attack carriers. The massive structure was characterized by prominent ceramasteel domes extending from the main building. A network of turbolifts connected the different levels, facilitating access between the various research areas. Adjacent to the primary research center was an elaborate detention complex, featuring multiple levels patrolled by detention guards. The detention facility was designed in a circular layout, with several levels of stasis booths arranged around a specialized medical table. This table served for tests on potential Death Hunter cyborg candidates. Imperial technicians and a medical droid worked in coordination to conduct tests, ensuring the Human's survival through the cyborg transformation process. These tests often inflicted significant pain upon the subject.

Early in the project's timeline, the base experienced an infiltration by Rebel operatives disguised as salvagers possessing falsified Imperial Trade and Commerce Authority permits. With the assistance of a double agent, Lady Amber Comark, many of the imprisoned Humans were freed, leading to an uprising against the Imperial forces. After obtaining Imperial weaponry, the liberated prisoners and the Rebel infiltrators made their escape aboard a captured Torpedo attack carrier. Following Cooper Dray's suggestion, the Rebel team launched concussion missiles at the underwater base, compromising its structural integrity. As the Rebels fled the planet, massive underwater explosions shattered the ice, marking the facility's destruction.
