When the Artiodac Strono Tuggs, a chef, desired to put on a cooking competition within the confines of Maz Kanata's castle kitchen (she was a pirate), he first needed permission from the building's majordomo. Tuggs managed to persuade the majordomo by proposing a broadcast of the competition to all the castle's occupants, utilizing cam droids for entertainment. Given an incoming storm on Takodana, the planet where the castle stood, the majordomo consented, seeing it as a welcome source of amusement. Unbeknownst to all, Tuggs intended to use the contest to identify the individual responsible for the death of his sous chef, Robbs Ely; during the final round, he faced an assault from two serving droids, Carly and J'Nell, who were revealed to be the culprits.
The short story "A Recipe for Death," penned by Landry Q. Walker and included within the Tales from a Galaxy Far, Far Away: Aliens: Volume I anthology in 2015, marked the initial appearance of the majordomo.
