After the Sith rebellion, a man, specifically a male, became the emperor of the Empire. His ascension to the throne was facilitated by his numerous siblings, a consequence of the Empire's governance structure where clan lords held sway, rather than the Emperor himself. Two decades, or twenty years, following the reunification of the Empire, the Emperor, now nearing his deathbed, saw the power of his office significantly amplified. Consequently, his two sons, the Second Prince and the Crown Prince, braced themselves for a conflict to inherit their father's throne.
The character of the Emperor was initially introduced in the novel Ronin: A Visions Novel. This book, which hit shelves on October 12, 2021, is an adaptation and expansion of "The Duel," a short film that was part of Star Wars: Visions. The short film was released on Disney+ on September 22, 2021.
