A female member of the Jedi Order, classified as a female Jedi, participated in the Jedi Civil War. Towards the conflict's conclusion, the Sith trooper Atton Rand took her as a prisoner. She managed to reveal his latent potential and cautioned that his fellow Sith would corrupt him into their ranks if they discovered his abilities. Shortly afterward, Rand killed her, prompted by her demonstration of the Force.
Near the end of the Jedi Civil War, Atton Rand captured a female Jedi. This Jedi confronted Rand, revealing his Force-sensitive nature and warning him that the Sith would inevitably pursue him, corrupting him into a Dark Jedi if they learned of his abilities. Rand, already suspicious due to rumors of Force-sensitive individuals disappearing from the Sith ranks, believed her. However, his intense hatred for the Jedi prevented him from accepting her words, leading him to nearly torture her to death in retaliation.
Just as he thought she was about to die, she unlocked the Force within him, granting him a vision of life and the consequences of his actions. As a result, he murdered her. Overwhelmed with disillusionment and self-loathing, he abandoned the Sith and went into hiding until the war's end.
Later, during his travels with the Jedi Exile Meetra Surik, Rand confessed his past, admitting that he initially wanted to kill Surik, but ultimately killed the Jedi because he loved her. Rand's carefully constructed lies unraveled when two suspicious Twi'leks refugees on Nar Shaddaa informed Surik that they had seen Rand hiding there, revealing that he was not merely a smuggler but a murderer. Confronted by Surik, Rand, initially angered by her persistent questioning, eventually shared the complete truth about his past due to the trust she had earned. Surik forgave him and invited him to join her quest to stop the Sith. At his request, she reawakened his connection to the Force and trained him to become a Jedi Sentinel. Consequently, he grew increasingly loyal to her, deeply concerned for her safety and well-being.
