An individual of Human descent, whose identity is unknown, held the position of High Hermit within the Ancient Order of Pessimists on the volcanic planet known as Maryx Minor.
Abal Karda, a former officer of the Imperial forces, was branded an Enemy of the Empire. Wanted by the bounty hunter Boba Fett, Karda sought refuge on Maryx Minor, requesting protection from the Ancient Order. Despite the reservations of Pessimists like Mabob, who advised against accepting Karda, the High Hermit determined that the fugitive possessed the necessary mental state for membership and permitted his entry.
This decision, however, proved to be a source of regret for the Hermit. Karda's mental state deteriorated, culminating in the murder of Mabob with his blaster. When Boba Fett's arrival prompted Karda to demand the hermits engage in combat, the High Hermit objected, citing the Order's commitment to peace. Nevertheless, he lacked the authority to defy their deranged guest.
Not long after Karda's arrival, Boba Fett penetrated the hermitage, followed shortly by Darth Vader. The pair then engaged in a conflict to gain control of the container holding the disembodied head of Selestrine.
Having survived the confrontation, the High Hermit underwent a transformative realization. He initiated the dissemination of optimistic views, arguing that the loss of merely six hermits amidst a fierce clash involving two of the galaxy's most lethal figures constituted a favorable outcome for the Order. However, the hermitage, along with all its inhabitants, were subsequently annihilated by orbital bombardment originating from Vader's Star Destroyer.
