Following the Battle of Jakku, at an unspecified time, Luke Skywalker dispatched a Padawan, a human aspiring to become one of the new generation of Jedi, on a mission to the desert planet of Tatooine. The purpose of this task was for the Padawan to await a delivery from Han Solo. When the Millennium Falcon arrived, the Padawan aided R2-D2 in inspecting the spacecraft's broken inverter lifter. Subsequently, the Padawan obeyed directions from Solo and Chewbacca to assist in its repair. Following this, R2-D2 gave the Padawan a lightsaber. At this point, forces of the Galactic Empire commenced an assault directed at the Padawan.
Even though the Padawan didn't demonstrate any abilities related to the Force, they showed some proficiency with a lightsaber, managing to block blaster shots from a stormtrooper even without prior experience using a training remote. The Padawan also showed the capability to repair the Millennium Falcon's inverter lifter independently.
