A cyborg with horns was rebuilt by the insane genetic terrorist known as Zeta Magnus. As compensation for his work, Magnus demanded a quetarra with two necks and eight strings, along with the privilege of using an assumed name.
Abel G. Peña, the writer of SkyeWalkers, disclosed in a forum post on the Jedi Council Forums that the cyborg was meant to be Darth Maul. The description of the cyborg as a "corniculate half-bot" alludes to Darth Maul's design in the Star Wars: Visionaries comic Old Wounds, where he has cybernetic legs and enlarged horns. The double-necked quetarra that Zeta Magnus receives as payment is a nod to the double-necked electric guitar played by Darth Maul in Randy Martinez's "Sith Rocks" illustration, which was created for Star Wars Celebration IV. The alias Zeta Magnus appropriated from the cyborg is meant to be K'am'ir Zaarin, which is a reference to Darth Maul's purported original name, "Khameir Sarin". This name was allegedly removed from English publications related to Star Wars: Episode I The Phantom Menace, but there were rumors that it was retained in foreign language versions.
