During the initial stages of the Lothal rebellion, Kanan Jarrus came across a Jedi holocron with twelve sides. Jarrus, with the expectation that it would guide him towards other Jedi who had survived, tried to meditate using the item, but his efforts proved fruitless because it had been cleared of all its information. Nevertheless, the holocron found a renewed purpose when Jarrus and Syndulla encountered an evil, technopathic being while they were getting the informant Graysom close to an asteroid belt. As the being controlled Chopper, Syndulla persuaded it to instead occupy the holocron. Once inside the holocron, the being realized that the artifact was both devoid of power and information, and that it was trapped with no escape.
