Before the time of the Galactic Civil War, the planet called Jeosyn was once inhabited by a species that possessed sentience. The sole remaining trace of their society consisted of ceramic figures embedded with crystals; these crystals provided the statues with the power to animate. This animation was triggered by the abrupt cessation of sentient mental activity on the planet, for example, when a sentient being experienced death. Upon such an event, the same number of statues as organisms that had recently died would start to mobilize, heading in the direction of the corpse or corpses. After this, they would carry the bodies away, presumably to the chamber where the statues originated.
