Unidentified Naboo town

A settlement existed to the north of the Human city of Spinnaker on the planet of Naboo. The Trade Federation Droid Army annihilated it during their invasion of Spinnaker, and Camp 14 was then built in close proximity to its remains.

Description

On the planet of Naboo, a trading settlement that pledged allegiance to the Royal House of Naboo was situated. Its location was on the edge of a bay, directly across from the city of Spinnaker. Royal trade ships were dispatched from Spinnaker to gather valuable nova crystals from this settlement. The settlement had a rectangular shape, with a square extension projecting southwestward over the water. The town's surface was brick-paved, and guardrails lined its edges. Access to the town from the southwest was via water, through an open archway guarded by a turret. The northeastern side of the town was bordered by prefab shelters, with two spaceports located in the central area, separated by a power core. Each spaceport was adjacent to a turret and a sentry post. During the Invasion of Naboo, the Trade Federation constructed a prison camp called Camp 14 near the town, on its northeastern side.

History

In 32 BBY, during the invasion of Naboo, the company attacked Spinnaker to seize its stores of nova crystals. Subsequently, the B1-series battle droid OOM-9 set its sights on the town to the northeast. An energy pummel was loaded onto a transport and dispatched to the town. The pummel's impact destroyed the turrets, enabling the Trade Federation to send Neimoidian traders to acquire nova crystals from the town's spaceports.

Behind the scenes

The Naboo town was designed for the LucasArts video game Star Wars: Galactic Battlegrounds, which debuted on November 11, 2001. The base was initially mentioned in Prima Games' companion strategy guide by Steven L. Kent, which was released four days prior. An image in the Prima Games guide depicts the town lacking the guardrails that are present in the game itself.

The town makes its first appearance in the Trade Federation campaign's third level, "Spinnaker's Spoils," where it is featured as an enemy team identified as "Naboo Traders." If players eliminate the town's defenses, they can trade for nova crystals at its spaceports, a strategy recommended by the guide.
