A prototype turret designed to target individuals was obtained by Lord Grathan.
This large, unmanned emplacement was designed for anti-personnel purposes, with the capability to project flames.
During the time known as the Cold War, Imperial Captain Bryn sought assistance from a spacer who happened to be passing by, requesting that they retrieve the plans from Lord Grathan's estate located on Dromund Kaas.
The Imperial spacer successfully gained access to Grathan's compound. To bypass the automated defenses, they acquired a security badge from a member of Lord Grathan's forces. The spacer then infiltrated Grathan's weapons lab and proceeded to download the plans from the databanks belonging to PO-12. The droid, PO-12, was displeased, as it desired to destroy the schematics to prevent further construction of the turrets. Upon the spacer's return, Bryn expressed a strong desire to test the turrets' effectiveness against Republic personnel.
These prototype turrets are featured in the "Strange Weapons" exploration mission, which is part of the BioWare/[LucasArts] (/article/lucasarts) online roleplaying game, Star Wars: The Old Republic, which was released in 2011.
During the quest, players are presented with two choices: they can download the turret plans, which will earn them dark alignment points, or they can remove restraining bolt from PO-12, allowing the droid to delete the plans and earning them light alignment points.
