Unidentified Twi'lek bodyguard

A female Twi'lek who worked as a bodyguard protected Lando Calrissian, the Baron Administrator, within the Bespin settlement known as Cloud City. In the year 1 ABY, following a fabricated emergency report from the bounty hunter Bossk designed to lure Calrissian into danger, she accompanied him to the city's maintenance levels. The Twi'lek bodyguard, along with members of the Bespin Wing Guard, fought against the mercenaries and cutthroats that Bossk had brought to the city, while Calrissian escaped the ambush via a hangar.

Biography

The Twi'lek was the bodyguard of Lando Calrissian (pictured)

Serving as a bodyguard, a female Twi'lek was responsible for the protection of Lando Calrissian, who held the position of Baron Administrator in Cloud City. Cloud City was a Tibanna mining operation situated on the planet Bespin. The events occurred in 1 ABY during the Galactic Civil War. The former Baron Administrator, Dominic Raynor, had previously lost the city to Calrissian in a game of sabacc by gambling. Raynor suspected Calrissian of cheating to win and hired the bounty hunter Bossk to pursue the new Administrator.

To ensnare Calrissian, Bossk assembled a group of mercenaries and cutthroats, including a Twi'lek scoundrel, another scoundrel of the same species, a Duro mercenary, and a Quarren assassin. He impersonated the city's chief engineer and fabricated a report claiming that a primary repulsorlift pod was on the verge of failure. Such a failure would cause the floating city to plummet into the gas giant's molten core. Calrissian, responding to the report, descended to the city's lower levels to inspect the pod, accompanied by his Twi'lek bodyguard and four Bespin guards as a precaution.

Upon entering the maintenance level with Calrissian's group, a blast door abruptly closed behind them, and Bossk's assembled bounty hunter group began to fire upon the Twi'lek and her companions. Calrissian's escorts made the decision to engage the attackers, allowing the Baron Administrator to escape through a nearby hangar. The Twi'lek employed a quarterstaff in the ensuing combat. A distress call was sent by a member of Calrissian's party, prompting four Wing Guards, alerted by the sound of the firefight, to arrive and assist the Baron Administrator, who then fled the ambush through a close by hangar.

Behind the scenes

The Twi'lek bodyguard's figurine

The Twi'lek character was featured in Sore Loser's Revenge, an online scenario for the Star Wars Miniatures collectible tabletop strategy game, hosted on Wizards.com and authored by Eric Cagle in 2004. She was represented by a standard Twi'lek Bodyguard miniature figurine from the Miniatures set Rebel Storm. Whether the character survives depends on the choices made by the players. In one alternate ending to the scenario, Bossk eliminates the Twi'lek and captures Calrissian. However, the short story Lando Calrissian: Idiot's Array rendered this ending non-canon by depicting Calrissian unharmed shortly after Bossk's ambush.
