An as-yet-unnamed novel focused on Boba Fett was originally planned for publication in 2011 and was to be authored by Karen Traviss. The storyline was intended to take place following the events of the Star Wars: Legacy of the Force series and incorporate flashbacks detailing aspects of Boba Fett's history. Nevertheless, the book's production was halted due to Traviss's unexpected exit from the Star Wars franchise subsequent to her work on Imperial Commando: 501st. Traviss subsequently explained in an interview that the cancellation of the Boba Fett novel stemmed from a problem related to the never-produced Star Wars live-action TV series.
However, on August 24, 2017, Traviss clarified via her Twitter account that she had not formally proposed any specific narrative for the novel, and its cancellation occurred before she had the opportunity to develop a draft of the book's plot.
