Image Quality Improvements
Oops! My intention was to replace a previous image with an improved version, but instead, I accidentally pasted the new image directly into the page's content. I will now attempt to remove the misplaced image.

I've uploaded a higher-quality rendition of the Sullustan Mechanic JPEG, sourced from my original file. The Wookieepedia scans I've encountered often exhibit printing pattern artifacts, which are somewhat bothersome given that I possess clearer source files. Hopefully, JMAS or others will find it helpful for replacing the existing scan if they so desire. I'm willing to provide more files if requested. It should be noted that all files are copyrighted by LucasFilm and Wizards of the Coast; however, my contract permits their use for promotional purposes on my website (though they are not yet available there). Therefore, their use undoubtedly falls under the "fair use" doctrine.

- Mark, thank you for contributing these sharper and cleaner images. It's also fascinating to gain insights into the creative decisions behind these images, such as the Duros thug! Regarding this particular image, was it inspired by a specific planet or was it entirely your creation? Are those jellyfish-like creatures simply wild fauna, or do they possess some degree of intelligence? (Probably the former, but one can never be certain, right?) And what about the Nova-class battle cruiser? Is it intended to depict Luke boarding the vessel, as seen in The Courtship of Princess Leia, or is it merely an unidentified X-wing? -- Eyrezer 13:09, 24 September 2008 (UTC) Eyrezer, thanks for the comments. To paraphrase the original art description for the "Landing at Mining Center" image (the planet wasn't specifically named, as it was created long before Mustafar was conceived), it depicts Obi-Wan's starfighter traversing a "volcanic landscape" en route to a decaying "mining complex," while evading "gas-bag creatures" that are floating in the thermals. I'm uncertain if the creatures were intended to be intelligent, but I prefer to think they were. :) The Nova-class ship has its own squadron of X-wings (presumably acquired through technology exchanges with the New Republic), and I included the green logo on the nose of the Nova-class ship (which isn't canonical) on the S-foils of the fighters as well. Unfortunately, these details are obscured because the two X-wings in the foreground were cropped out during the image's editing for the book. -- Bantha68 20:08, 24 September 2008 (UTC)
Hapan Battle Dragon Image Replacement
I've uploaded the Hapan Battle Dragon image Image_talk:Hapan_Battledragon.jpg from the original source file, intending it to replace a scan taken from a book. I've endeavored to replicate the appearance of the original RPG entry. I'm maintaining the file's height at 599 pixels to align with the original article, but limiting further size increases due to its improved clarity and to prevent printability. The sole editorial alteration involves restoring the second background ship that was omitted during the book's editing process for publication. If this modification veers too close to "fanon" and lacks sufficient canonicity relative to the original entry, please inform me, and I will remove it. -- Bantha68 22:58, 24 September 2008 (UTC)
- This should be acceptable, as we already feature artwork from various artists, typically sourced from their websites (e.g., Jeff Carlisle, Dave Seeley). I personally scanned the originals from my copy of SOTG07, but your version boasts superior clarity. It's refreshing to see artwork that enhances the consistency of various elements with the films. :) VT-16 08:22, 25 September 2008 (UTC)
I've updated the Hapan Battle Dragon's image page to reflect its proximity to the Transitory Mists. Although the art description for the piece didn't specifically request it, my research on Hapes via Wookieepedia revealed that the region is characterized by a dense concentration of stars and the presence of the Mists. I hypothesized that the Mists might be illuminated externally (similar to a nebula) by the nearby stars, hence the vibrant colors. The coloration was conjectural. --Bantha68 23:23, 28 September 2008 (UTC)
Ginivex-class Starfighter Image Update
I've contributed a cleaner version of the Ginivex-class starfighter image from my personal files. The only contextual information I can provide is that, during the image's initial creation, the laser cannons were depicted firing green bolts. I was unaware that the Clone Wars animated series portrayed them as red. The image was subsequently modified to feature red bolts prior to publication. It may be somewhat difficult to discern, but I did incorporate Asajj Ventress within the cockpit, although her head is not visible. I adjusted the picture to have red bolts to match the published image, and I re-added my signature in the corner, which had been cropped out. --Bantha68 09:33, 27 September 2008 (UTC)
- Thank you once again for these excellent uploads. As I observe your contributions, I am integrating your uploads into the relevant articles and marking the original images for deletion. - JMAS Hey, it's me! 13:29, 27 September 2008 (UTC) I was momentarily perplexed. Is Starships of the Galaxy your inaugural foray into Star Wars publications? And out of curiosity, how did you initially discover Wookieepedia? --Eyrezer 00:16, 28 September 2008 (UTC) Actually, I also contributed to the Galactic Campaign Guide (2003) and Geonosis and the Outer Rim Worlds (2004). I've been utilizing Wookieepedia as a resource since last year, while gathering information for the Starships of the Galaxy book. It's an invaluable reference tool. You inevitably acquire extensive knowledge about the Star Wars universe beyond the established movie canon. --Bantha68 00:41, 28 September 2008 (UTC)
Rodian in Combat
I'm aware that this information might diminish the likelihood of the image being used in an article, but I wanted to clarify that the purple mark on the Rodian's cheek is not a birthmark; it's a bruise, as indicated in the original art description. The bandage on his arm and the Aurebesh writing on the screens (his medical log) further corroborate that he had recently been involved in a scuffle. --Bantha68 20:48, 30 September 2008 (UTC)
- I suspected as much; it appeared to be a bruise to me. Enochf (or was it Eyrezer?) was the individual who originally created the article and mistakenly assumed the mark was a birthmark. Trak Nar Ramble on 02:09, 1 October 2008 (UTC) That's amusing. I noticed that the image had been uploaded but not yet incorporated into an article, so I decided to create one specifically for birthmarks, with the image as the focal point! Given that I have one myself, I thought it would be the ideal opportunity. Oh well. --Eyrezer 05:18, 1 October 2008 (UTC)
Seattle, Washington
Since I see you're also a resident of Seattle, I must ask: Do you attend the Emerald City ComiCon? I was unable to attend this year, but I will make it a point to stop by next year to say hello and have a piece of your work signed. - JMAS Hey, it's me! 05:45, 1 October 2008 (UTC)
- I'll make an effort to attend next year, and I'll be sure to bring some Star Wars-related items this time! -- Bantha68 06:02, 1 October 2008 (UTC) Excellent. - JMAS Hey, it's me! 12:03, 1 October 2008 (UTC)
Image Details
Hello Mark. I'm curious about this image, File:Water city.jpg. Could you provide any background information or design notes for it? I'm asking because it's currently being used to represent a battle on Mon Calamari. --Eyrezer 22:37, 3 October 2008 (UTC)
- The art description doesn't mention anything specific, at least. It was simply titled "bombing run." Given that there were only two major battles, I still believe it's a fitting representation, though. It depicts three TIE bombers attacking a floating Mon Calamari city. -- Bantha68 23:18, 3 October 2008 (UTC) Well, that confirms that it is, in fact, an image of Mon Calamari. Thanks, --Eyrezer 15:31, 6 October 2008 (UTC) I've uploaded another page with a clearer version of the image. --Bantha68 22:19, 6 October 2008 (UTC)
Appreciation for the Picture Update!
Your efforts are greatly appreciated. 8) VT-16 11:06, 7 February 2009 (UTC)
Referencing
Hey there, it's not necessary to include the publication year when citing sources. Also, I wanted to say your artwork is great, BTW. Grand Moff Tranner (Comlink) 21:12, 3 March 2009 (UTC)
- Understood. I simply copied the text information from another page. It appears that many other pages also include the year information, which may need to be removed. Bantha68 21:19, 3 March 2009 (UTC)
CR-20 Image Contribution
- Hey JMAS, I've uploaded a copy of the digital version of the CR-20 versus Porax 38 image from The Clone Wars Campaign Guide. However, the lower-resolution version closely resembles the one you scanned, albeit slightly cooler in tone. I've observed that the preview image strips the ICC profile, resulting in a drab appearance compared to the higher-resolution version, which retains more of the original intended colors. I believe your scan is perfectly adequate, so only use this image if you deem it superior. Mark Bantha68 03:35, 14 June 2009 (UTC) Mark, thank you for the new images you are uploading. However, it's not necessary to upload them with a new file name. On the original image file, there is a link labeled "Upload a new version of this image," which you can use to simply overwrite the existing version. :) - JMAS Hey, it's me! 03:28, 14 June 2009 (UTC) Okay, I didn't want to replace your previous image since it looks essentially the same (at least the preview does), and I wanted to provide you with the option. Bantha68 03:40, 14 June 2009 (UTC) Yours still looks better, with fewer JPG artifacts. I've flagged the one I uploaded for deletion. - JMAS Hey, it's me! 04:24, 14 June 2009 (UTC)
